Shop update and a vacation:

Hi everyone! Hope you all have seen the new goodies in the shop. These are my favourite things I've made yet and have been very excited about them :)

The quilted tablet totes are so fun, they came together quite easily but I seriously need to find a walking foot for my sewing machine for free hand quilting in future. The three folds wrap up so neatly and become this compact and neat crossbody bag. The makeup roll is an extremely clever design and fits in those loose make up brushes and bottles that fall down to the base of toilet bags. No more rummaging in your bags. I couldn't resist and made one of each for myself too :)
Okay so let me share my short holiday plans with you too ;) The Mister and I complete 9 yes!! yipeeeee 9 years of being married and we're taking off on a short trip to Coorg in Karnataka, South India. We take off to Bangalore at 6 am tomorrow morning and then its a 6 hour drive to The Orange County Resort . All sounds very exciting except for the 6 hour drive, but I should be okay I guess. Am not a very happy traveler when it comes to car journeys :( I'm really looking forward to this break with just the two of us. We have such chaotic lives here that its hard to find time for each other. I come back Monday afternoon YAY!!! The packing's done, treated myself to a new book download on the kindle, hoping I'll finish it hahahah. Off I go to cook dinner, got to get to bed early, the cab comes at 4 tomorrow morning for the airport phew! Oh yeah incase any of you make a purchase in the shop I shall ship on Tuesday. So wish me luck and you have great week too. Any last minute tips on my trip, you're welcome to drop in a line :)
Be good people!

Happy Diwali!

Lots of Diwali wishes to all of you :) This is our little lamp that we put up outside. Hope you all didn't stress yourselves too much with the cleaning and  shopping ha? I was quite cool this time. I began the sorting and cleaning a month ago, so managed to finish everything well in time.

Look how peaceful my cutting table looks :) Poor baby has been working overtime since I launched the online store. Am taking a much needed break for the weekend and spending Diwali with my Sister and the Mister at her cute little place in Colaba. Like every year, we shall only be lighting candles and diyas and staying away from the noisy firecrackers. Its also the only time of the year that I wear the traditional Sari. Ma's sent me beautiful Sari this year as well. I shall be sharing the pictures with you guys next week. You all have a great Diwali too. Wishing you all loads of happiness and Prosperity in the New Year :))

XOXOXOX

Personal sewing projects completed:

Hey lovely people...I'm sure all your busy shopping for Diwali and giving those finishing touches to your lovely homes :) Last couple of weeks I managed to do some sewing for myself other than what I put up in the shop. Sharing some of these beauties with you.
First up is this cute pleated purse, yeah I know you've been seeing too many of these. Yes! I admit am addicted to these :) These are fast to whip up and just the right size to carry your daily essentials. I used one of the floral prints I picked up a while ago and I really love the way its turned out. I've been a fan of big tote bags and handbags all my life, but since the last couple of months I've been consciously trying to fit everything in a small crossbody purse. The shoulder hurts and the big bags have just become a painful affair quite literally :(

You'll be surprised how much this fits in. You can actually take a peek and see..now lets do a count, so I have my two-pocket wallet in purple, my tissue pouch, there's a card keeper which you cannot make out, a small pocket pouch for all my receipts, a chap stick. I fit in my cellphone and kohl pencil in the pocket at the back. I even manage to carry a tiny jar of handcream. Phew! Thats quite a bit noh? But the pouch puffs up owing to the pleats and gives it a nice plump look. Love, love love!!

The green floral lining is the favouritest part of the bag :) The moment you open the purse you get this fresh feeling, minty fresh green.

These colourful cases are a pattern I picked up from Michelle Patterns. These were designed as pencil pouches but really can be used for a variety of things. Am using two of these for my portable hard drives and one to store my rotary cutter when not in use.

This is an excellent project to practice snap buttons. I pulled out some pretty snaps to use for these. I'm thinking of making some of these as hard drive covers for the shop, what say?

I made this cute little felt basket as a hostess gift for one of the Mister's college mate's wife, who'd invited us for dinner last weekend. I filled it with tiny chocolates for their 4 year old son. This is the first time I've made something using all felt and pairing it with cotton fabric turned out to be a good idea. The matching buttons give it a nice finished look noh?

This tiny phone pouch with a key ring was made as a custom order. I don't do custom orders anymore, but this is something that I'd promised someone a while ago.

This is all I manged to sew apart from the stuff in the shop. I really wish I had more time to do some sewing for me. Once the shop is stocked enough, I'd love to make some dresses for myself. The fabrics are all washed and ready and have a couple of patterns I'm itching to try.
Anything you got down to making lately, do drop in a line. Have a great festive weekend :))

Re-stocked the shop:

I've added a few bi-fold wallets and cellphone pouches to the shop this morning. I'm still in love with all the new fabrics I bought a couple of weeks ago and they shall keep popping in projects for sometime :) The ruffled pouches will always remain a favourite of mine and every time I make these even for a custom order or a gift, its been hard to part with them. The pattern design is so clever and unique that no matter what fabric combinations I use, they always turn out gorgeous. The Bi-fold wallets are extremely compact and useful. I was using one till a couple of months ago till I gifted it to a cousin of mine who fell in love with it :) I now use the two-pocket wallet and am really really happy with it.
If you'd like to get some of these for yourself you could go shop here
See you soon, Ciao!!
